Drinking and Breast Health
Everyone knows or at least they should know that drinking alcohol is bad for a person’s overall well- being. It seems like it is great while it is being consumed, but the next day it leaves the person feeling like garbage, and it harms nearly every organ in the body. So, there is really no doubt that somewhere during all of this the breasts are also being harmed. One out of every five alcohol related deaths is cancer related. Many researchers now have strong findings that women who consume alcohol have a significant chance of increasing their likelihood of getting breast cancer. The main consensus is that women who drink on a regular basis over a long period of time have the strongest possibility of alcohol causing breast cancer. Cancer experts say that for every additional 10 grams of alcohol that is drank per day the risk of getting breast cancer increases between 7 and 12 percent. There are conflicting messages about alcohol and breastfeeding a baby. Most do agree that if the mother has alcohol in her system she should not breastfeed, but they do not agree on how long alcohol can stay in her bloodstream. The obvious choice is to avoid drinking if at all possible while breastfeeding. If it is not avoidable, she should at least wait until after breastfeeding.
She should even stock up a few bottles for the next morning if she plans on drinking a lot. Those who drink often, however, should be warned that alcohol can mess with lactation. It is best to drink no more than one to two glasses a day.Alcohol is not kind to the skin. It dehydrates it, which is bad for breasts because when the skin becomes dehydrated it gets dried out. This can leave breasts looking wrinkled and not soft and smooth. Alcohol can also constrict blood vessels. This can leave the skin looking redder than normal. It can also leave red dots or thin red streaks. This is not anything a woman wants to see on her breasts. It is also fattening. Alcohol packs on the calories. A few shots a night are the same as eating a few candy bars. This can give extra weight to breasts even if it was not wanted. Not to mention alcohol can leave women feeling puffy and bloated. It has also been linked with cellulite. Alcohol consumption will constrict blood flow overtime. This is not good news for breasts because in all of the fatty tissue lies capillaries and veins. If blood flow is constricted, that means oxygen is not making its way properly to the area. That will result in premature aging and a loss of touch sensation. Anyone with sense knows that alcohol is not good for them. Still, people with good sense can often make poor decisions. Smart people every day pick up a drink. People do not consider what it can do to them in the future. They are only worried about the present and the glass in front of them. If it is not possible to put the glass down, then at least limit daily consumption. The best choice for people is to find a new way to have fun or to take care of their problems differently. That is the only way to save their health and their breasts. If you are concerned about your breast health and size, please avoid alcohol entirely.
